Taqueria Los Cuates Information

Tucked into a quiet stretch of Wichita Falls, Taqueria Los Cuates feels like the kind of place locals keep to themselves but happily recommend once you ask. From the outside, it’s unassuming, but stepping in, you’re greeted by the comforting aroma of grilled meats, warm tortillas, and spices that instantly hint at a kitchen that knows exactly what it’s doing.

The menu leans heavily into classic Mexican street food, and that’s where this spot really shines. Tacos are the obvious highlight, served on soft corn tortillas with fillings like carne asada, al pastor, and barbacoa that are seasoned well and cooked with care. The al pastor, in particular, stands out with its balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors, especially when paired with fresh cilantro, diced onions, and a squeeze of lime. It’s the kind of dish that doesn’t need any extra flair because the basics are done right.

Beyond tacos, there’s a satisfying range of options that round out the menu. Burritos come generously packed, quesadillas are perfectly melted without being greasy, and the house-made salsas bring just the right amount of heat. The green salsa has a bright, tangy kick, while the red one leans deeper and smokier. Portions are solid without being overwhelming, making it easy to try a few different items in one visit.

The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, with a no-frills dining room that focuses more on function than style. That simplicity works in its favor, though, because it keeps the attention where it belongs-on the food. Service tends to be friendly and efficient, with staff who are quick to answer questions about the menu or offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to order.

From what I’ve seen in customer reviews and experienced firsthand, consistency is one of the biggest strengths here. Dishes come out hot, flavorful, and reliably prepared, which is something diners appreciate, especially in a small, local spot. It’s not trying to be trendy or upscale, and that authenticity is exactly what gives it charm.

The location on Holliday Street makes it accessible whether you’re passing through town or living nearby, and it’s the kind of place you could easily return to without getting bored of the menu. While it may not have the polished look of a big-chain restaurant, it more than makes up for it with genuine flavors and a welcoming, down-to-earth vibe.

What People's Say About Place

If you’re looking for the best birria tacos in Wichita Falls, then look no further. Taqueria Los Cuates is a food truck located in an open and spacious parking lot. You can call ahead and order or order in person. The food is made to order and it’s very fresh. I had some carne asada tacos, the birria plate, and a cup of elote and it was all delicious. The birria tacos were amazing, however the rice and beans weren’t that great. The elote was really good as well and the carne asada tacos were just ok. I would definitely come back for some more birria tacos. Also, bring cash unless you have Cashapp as those are the only two forms of payment.

My new go-to taco truck. Their street tacos are delicious and the red sauce they give you is verrry spicy. My favorite is the chicken taco but they usually sell out of those pretty early. On Tuesdays some of the tacos are $1.50 each.

I love a good food truck, but this one is GREAT! The birria tacos and ramen are so flavorful and cooked to perfection. I wished they would add some flavor to the rice and beans, but not going to stop me from going back. So surprised to find such a gem in WFTX!

Everything is amazing my favorite is the birria tacos and especially the aguas which have pulp I hear the one that makes the aguas is part of Barbara’s so no wonder why

Taco Tuesday is ok- they are a good taco for $1. But, the tortillas are straight out of the bag and they only had the one salsa roja, no verde. The Al Pastor was good, but not the best in the area. HOWEVER- they are open at 5pm, much later than taco shops here, that gets them 4 Stars. But, before 3pm, they are a 3 Star taco. Cash only.

Our favorite taco shop in town! The food is amazing our favs are the Birria ramen and chicken taco plate! The frescas are so good and refreshing! The customer service is amazing, they’re always so kind! Highly recommend

Cash only, pretty good food. Just wish they didn’t close in the middle of the day
